Global Technical Engineer
Location: Wilford, Nottingham (onsite)Salary range: £35k to £48K
Contract: Permanent, full time
Reporting to: Technical Director
As a Technical Engineer you will support and implement business driven initiatives by identifying and driving continuous improvements in manufacturing process capability, capacity and continually supporting product quality. This role requires some overseas travel to implement and reinforce the identified processes at the manufacturing location.
ATG is a global sourcing specialist that partners and works with manufacturers of commodities in China, India and Southeast Asia. We supply parts and components to Original Equipment Manufacturers direct from our overseas factories to our customers wherever they are in the world.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Ensuring all inspection reports and relevant tests have been carried out and recorded before components and assemblies are dispatched from suppliers.
- Working with the customer to ensure any issues are dealt with swiftly & efficiently.
- Development of all the factories social & wellbeing responsibility “CSR”.
- The support and development of the Manufacturing Team based in China.
- Implementation and reinforcement of the company’s processes.
- Development and adoption of the ATG ISO 9001 processes into the China based operation with the goal of achieving certification.
- Working with the UK Quality Team to develop processes to better meet the needs of our customers and the internal processes.
- Co-ordinating product risk and FMEAs.
- Making sure technical documents are complete and that all requirements for each client are met or exceeded.
- Evaluating and improving manufacturing processes by; applying knowledge of product design, casting, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Assuring product and process quality by designing testing methods; inspecting finished- product and process capabilities;
- Establishing standards for manufacture which can be repeated at other factory’s
- Confirming manufacturing processes.
- Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintaining product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Completing development projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Assisting factory’s to develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Background in Engineering and product development/manufacture.
- Experience working with heavy castings.
- Have a good understanding of machining processes.
- Experience in fabrications and manufacturing processes.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience of CAD systems.
