From Empty Ground to Exhibition Ready: Building the ATG Stand at Hillhead 2026
Discover how months of planning and days of hard work transformed an empty exhibition plot into one of Hillhead 2026's standout stands.
When visitors arrive at Hillhead, they see polished exhibition stands, vibrant branding and busy teams welcoming customers. What they don't often see is the incredible amount of work that happens behind the scenes before the gates even open.

For the ATG team, the journey to Hillhead 2026 began long before the first containers arrived. Months of planning, design meetings and logistics coordination all led to one goal – creating a stand that reflected the quality, professionalism and global capabilities of ATG.

An Empty Canvas

A week before Hillhead was due to start, our plot was simply an empty space waiting to be transformed. While it may have looked unremarkable, every measurement, delivery and installation had already been carefully planned.

The first task was positioning the containers that would form the centrepiece of our stand. Watching heavy lifting equipment manoeuvre each container into place was an impressive sight and marked the point where months of planning started becoming reality.

With the structure established, the footprint of the stand immediately began to take shape. What had been an open area only 24 hours earlier was beginning to resemble the impressive exhibition space we had envisioned.

A key part of bringing our vision to life was the support of Portable Space, whose expertise played a vital role in the stand's construction. As specialists in high-quality modular container solutions, their team expertly delivered and positioned the containers that formed the backbone of our two-storey exhibition stand. Their professionalism, attention to detail and seamless coordination with the wider build team ensured the installation ran smoothly, providing a solid foundation for everything that followed. We're grateful for their support in helping create a stand that became one of the standout features of Hillhead 2026.

Building the Framework
The following stage saw the stand evolve rapidly. The pergola was installed, the staircase assembled and the upper viewing area constructed. Every component had to be installed safely and precisely, with multiple contractors working together to keep everything on schedule.

Around the site, forklifts, cranes and construction teams worked tirelessly as hundreds of exhibitors prepared for opening day. The atmosphere was busy but focused, with every exhibitor sharing the same objective – to be ready when visitors arrived.

For the ATG team, progress was exciting to watch. Every hour brought another visible milestone as the stand became more recognisable.

Bringing the Brand to Life
Once the main structure was complete, attention turned to branding.

Large-format graphics were installed across the containers, instantly transforming the steel structure into an unmistakably ATG exhibition stand. Company logos, messaging and product visuals began appearing across every visible surface, ensuring visitors would immediately recognise who we are and what we do.

The LED screen was installed to showcase customer projects, product videos and key messages throughout the event, while flags were raised high above the stand to maximise visibility across the exhibition.

Inside, furniture arrived, meeting areas were arranged and hospitality facilities were prepared. The space quickly changed from a construction project into a welcoming environment where conversations and new business relationships could flourish.

The Final Details
As opening day approached, the pace intensified.

Marketing materials were unpacked, product displays carefully positioned and every screen tested. The team worked through countless final checks, making sure every graphic was straight, every cable hidden and every detail met the high standards we set ourselves.

These finishing touches may seem small, but collectively they create the professional first impression that visitors experience when they step onto the stand.

There was a genuine sense of excitement as the final pieces fell into place. After days of hard work, the transformation was complete.

More Than Just a Stand
Building an exhibition stand is about far more than construction. It is about teamwork.

Throughout the build, colleagues from across the business worked together to overcome challenges, coordinate deliveries and ensure everything was completed on time. From marketing and sales to operations and logistics, everyone played their part in delivering a stand that represented the very best of ATG.

The build also reflected the qualities we bring to our customers every day: planning, organisation, problem-solving and attention to detail. The same approach we apply to global sourcing projects and supply chain management was evident throughout every stage of the exhibition setup.

Ready to Welcome the Industry

By the evening before the exhibition opened, the transformation was remarkable.

What had started as an empty plot was now a striking two-storey exhibition stand, complete with meeting areas, digital displays, product information and welcoming spaces for customers from around the world.

As the first visitors walked through the gates the following morning, they saw the finished result. Behind every graphic, every screen and every conversation was a dedicated team whose hard work had made it possible.

Hillhead is one of the most important events in the quarrying, mining and recycling calendar, and we were proud to once again showcase everything ATG has to offer.

From the first container being lifted into position to the moment we welcomed our first customer, the journey perfectly demonstrated what ATG is all about: careful planning, exceptional teamwork and delivering quality from start to finish.

With the final graphics in place, the screens switched on and every last detail checked, the transformation was complete. What had started as an empty exhibition plot was now a fully operational ATG stand, ready to welcome visitors from across the quarrying, mining and bulk materials handling industries. The build was finished, the team was ready, and all that remained was for the gates to open. In our next Hillhead blog, we'll take you inside the exhibition itself, sharing the highlights, customer conversations and key moments from three fantastic days at the UK's largest quarrying, construction and recycling event.
